Recycle Wastewater

    4th R OF WATER CONSERVATION

Nature recycles everything. The water we receive through rain is recycled water. We must must too recycle water at municipal, industrial, community and household level. This recycled water can be used effectively for agriculture, horticulture, construction and many more such requirements that do not need fresh water.

Recycle Wastewater to Achieve Water Security

    • In the peak period of Delhi Metro Rail construction, it consumed almost as much water as the entire population of Delhi did!
    • 20.1 kL / m2 gross floor area is water embodied in construction ((Michael M McCormack, Graham Teolar et al 2007)
    • In the construction process itself 350 liters of water is consumed to make a wall of 1 sq mt
    • Use of recycled water for activities like construction, greening, open space washing etc. frees up fresh water for direct consumption.
    • An average household kitchen uses 200 liters a day. This can be easily recycled for gardening. Hence to maintain a 1 acre park, water collected from kitchens of 20-30 households will be enough.
    • Up to 75% of your household water is discharged as wastewater. With new treatment technologies, 75% of this can be brought to B grade usage standards. All commercial establishments and housing complexes must adopt this.
