    5053 slum households

reached with COVID Prevention, coping & Vaccination messages

    8926 Vaccinated

    in just 2 months

    Why COVID Awareness

The COVID pandemic devastated lives and livelihoods of millions. The worst affected are the poor. Yet they are the least informed on issues related to it. This project tried to fill this information gap

    What info did we share

-Prevent COVID- Masking, handwashing, social distancing; following government guidelines; healthy living

-Handle COVID – Isolation, self-monitoring, when to go to hospital, prevent spread

-Vaccinate- Why and how to get vaccinated. Daily vaccination schedule & contact details of nearby centres or vaccination camps

-Dispel myths – About COVID spread, treatments and vaccination – particularly for pregnant/lactating mothers, elders, immunocompromised individuals

    How did we reach out

The real success of this project was in its impactful use of Real and Virtual options.

Through Community Peer Champions who created Whatsapp Groups of atleast 100 people each, a messaging chain was set up. Everyday, a creatively designed, vernacular, UN Verified COVID message was escalated up this chain. Regular offline and online meetings were held to clear doubts. And most important – the Peer champions motivated and facilitated vaccinations in their communities.
